Skinny dog stops hammer attack
EDMONTON, AB (Canada)
On any given day, the Edmonton Police Canine Unit takes on some big crimes. But here's one case case that called for a skinny dog.
A 43-year-old woman awoke just after midnight, Jan. 13, to find a strange man crawling into her bed. She was able to call the police, but then the man grabbed a hammer and began to attack her.
Constable Roger Bellerose arrived on the scene with his cop dog "Indy" but found that the door was barricaded. Through a window, the officer could see the woman struggling against her attacker; however the door wouldn't budge more than a few inches.
Const. Bellerose hurled himself against the door and was able to gain just enough clearance for Indy to slither through. Once inside, Indy (having expanded to full size once again) single-handedly nabbed the attacker and held him until officers were able to get inside.
Injuries - good guys: 0.
Bad guy: 1 bite to the leg. ![]()
